Penang Island

My trip to Penang took place at the end of August, just before the school holidays. I stayed at the Bayview Beach Resort in Batu Ferinngi (northern tip of the island). The airport is at the southern tip of the island — it took about 45 minutes to get to the hotel.

I like the hotel. It gave a feeling of spaciousness. The staff were friendly and eager to assist. The room was also spacious — I loved the king-sized bed. The breakfast buffet offered a wide variety of food — local and international — but the taste was only slightly above average. I stopped by for coffee and apple pie after a day of sightseeing — the pie was superb! The barbecue dinner on Friday night was also very yummy.

If you're not driving to Penang and you don't want to hire a car, Uber and Grab Car services are available.

If you wish to hire a taxi driver for a day, I recommend you contact Mr. Morgan (phone: +60174031294, email: +60 17 403 1294). I hired him for half a day. He was a friendly chap and has a good knowledge of the island and its history. I found him via TripAdvisor.

The hotel lobby. The photo is a bit shaky because I snapped it while the lift was moving up.

I wanted to walk to the end of the pier but it was too slippery.
